About Quang Nghiem

Quang Nghiem monastery was founded in 2000 by Nun Phuc Kien (a disciple of Master Thich Thanh Tu) and its devotees. It locates on a hill with its land of 17 acres. The formation of the monastery is filled with much of effort, burden, determination, and commitment. Right at the beginning, she had to face with a big challenge: the finance. But by setting her goal for the establishment of the monastery and the propagation of Buddhism, she decided to do whatever it took. She put a residential home on sale and used that money for the land. From September 2002 to December 2002, many phases occurred including some unexpected issues. Despite those hindrances, the application of the construction went through. In January 2001, the construction began. Two and a half years went by, 70% of the monastery is done, which includes the Buddhist shrine. Quang Nghiem monastery is currently functioning as there's a daily practicing schedule for practitioners. Quang Nghiem follows the teaching principle of Master Thich Thanh Tu. In the present, the number of attendants are small due to the population of the city. However, we expect a grow to this number as Buddhism teaching propagates.

In conjunction of propagating Buddhism here, at Quang Nghiem monastery, Quang Nghiem has taken another step further by reaching out to those unfortunate individuals in Vietnam. Especially, the youngsters. This charity work is an on-going process. For over 6 years, many individuals have been helped from the generous donations of devotees. It's a joy to see the smile on their face and the hope for a better life.
